Paranormalcy comes out in two weeks.
Hey! You! Quit running around in circles screaming! You're at work, for heaven's sake! Wait, I'm the only one running around in circles screaming? Ah. Well, that's okay then, I'm at home.
I'm doing everything I can to get ready for it to come out, which right now mostly revolves around finishing these [insert fake expletives here] edits so that I can focus back on Para. Then I'll answer a whole bunch of interviews, and then maybe I'll get around to buying a cute outfit for the signings. Meh. Shopping when you're 4'11" and not shaped like a twelve-year-old is not actually much fun. Who knew? (ME. I KNEW.)
Now you're probably thinking, "What about ME, Kiersten? What can I do??" You can go shopping for me! Well, no. But here are some things you can do if you really, really want to.
1. Pre-order! Did you know that every time you pre-order Paranormalcy a super hot werewolf inexplicably loses his shirt, a centuries-old vampire enrolls in high school for reasons unfathomable to the rest of us and promptly identifies the object of his obsession, a mermaid realizes life really IS better down where it's wetter and forgets about the emo prince she doesn't even know, and MTV starts casting for The Real World: Atlantis? It's true. You're doing so much good in the supernatural world by supporting Paranormalcy! I've even heard rumors that every time you pre-order, a supernatural guy and a mortal girl who absolutely under no circumstances whatsoever upon pain of death and the destruction of the entire world cannot get together end up having a hot make-out scene anyway!
Whew. Maybe you're better off avoiding all of that drama and should just
2. Plan on buying it in-store on August 31st. I know it will be at B&N (umm, take your camera and send me a picture, okay? Hint: It will be PRETTY there!), but feel free to call your favorite Indie bookstore and ask if they are stocking it. If not, ask them why the heck not. I mean, politely request that they order a copy for you! (You can do this at any bookstore, you know--they will order it in and hold it for you. Convenient!) Bonus to buying in store is you don't have to wait for it to ship.
And finally, because I have a borderline irrational love of libraries,
3. Ask your local library if they are going to carry it. If not, beg them to order it and then put it on hold to keep it all to yourself. And then laugh maniacally.
Good news is that the e-book edition is releasing August 31st, too (no delay!) AND I just found out that there is, in fact, an audio version! Sweet. I'm excited to listen to it, and I believe that it also releases on August 31st. And no, I did not perform the audio version, so it will be longer than thirty minutes.
YES. I AM HYPER. I ADMIT IT.
Ahem. Anyway. Thank you. Thank you for reading my blog, thank you for being excited about my book, thank you thank you thank you if you plan on buying it, and THANK YOU OH MY GOSH I LOVE YOU SO MUCH if you plan on buying it and telling others to do the same.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to find some other relatively unnecessary thing to do to avoid edits.

Wooooooot! I'm SO taking pictures and telling everyone I know to go buy it. Actually, I'll probably just drag them to the store and FORCE them to.
Hey, I know they won't regret it.
Woot! Enjoy every moment.
Oh, I cannot WAIT! Hey, have you checked out some of the custom dresses on Etsy? They have very cute patterns that they can tailor to your exact measurements. It's very indie. I can send you a link to one of my faves, iffin you want.
Okay seriously, I think that is the best blog post I have read in a really long time. I love the part about what happens if we pre-order a copy of the book, amazing! I hope people continue to pre-order so the paranormal world will keep spinning. :)
Coolest two weeks ever! I love following your story, Kiersten!
I'll keep an eye out for it. If I see it in stores I'll take a picture of it.
Regardless, I'll be buying the Kindle edition in the near future :)
Yay! I've had to pre-order it online, since it's not going to be out in the UK yet. But once it is I'l take pictures. :)
I love all the wonderfulness in #1 that results from buying Para, especially the mermaid rejecting her dimwitted prince. Never cared for that movie despite my adoration of Sebastian the singing crab.
YAYYY 2 weeks!
I'm editing right now and any good news is welcome. If you come up with a Revisinator blaster that will vaporize all my extraneous adverbs, I'd be pretty happy to hear that news also.
Martha--Dude, please do.
Brad--I'm tempted to get a kindle just so I can have every version possible...okay, maybe it's not rational, but hey, it's fun!
Lindsay--Yay! Thank you!
And everyone, thanks for humoring me : ) I always worry about posting stuff like this, but I figure if you're reading my blog you're probably interested in my writing, right? That, or you HATE ME but also hate yourself and so can't keep yourself away from the massive rage that I put you into every time you see my wretched typing.
Which is also kind of cool.
Still coming up with schemes and plans to make sure I'm not stuck on jury the day of your launch party. I. will. BE. there!!!!
(or the California State Gov't is going to have one VERY uncooperative juror) :)
HAHAHAHHAH I am so going to B&N and taking a picture.
Last time I was there, a couple of teenagers were camped right in front of the YA section and I had to keep stepping over them.
They were cool about it though. Maybe I can get a pic of them too...
I've already got TWO pre-ordered. I'm so excited!
Have fun with your edits, interviews, and shopping!
Thank you for having your book release right after payday. And I'm super excited to hear about the audio version and the ebook. I'm such a geek I usually get all three formats! Can't wait for 8/31!
I'm so excited I could burst! Wheeeeee
Also, now that I've met you (read: you stalked me for four days) I can "hear" all of your blog posts in your voice. It makes them WAY more entertaining. And they were already pretty entertaining on their own. So, win. Times two.
Enna--Dude, you rock.
Stacy--I highly endorse that brand of geekery!
Heather--See, I always said I write on the blog exactly how I talk. FAST AND FURIOUS. And I interrupt myself a lot.
I miss stalking you, btw.
TEN WEEKS??! What happened to the time?!?! WOW! But, you know, also GOOD at the same time! I can't wait! Still deciding whether I'd like to do #1 or #2--and still do #3 while I'm at it.
Congratulations!
I cannot explain my excitement! I'm going to go recommend the book to my library right now, and then we'll read it for book club sometime, and my pre-order giveaway is going super awesomely.
I. Am. So. Excited.
*takes deep breath*
This is so irrational, but it's fun. :D And, really, as a General in the Paranormalcy Army of Awesome, it's my duty to be giddy.
lOVE THIS POST IT MAKES ME HAPPY!!!!
Personally I think you should all be doing #1, 2 AND 3. And when you are in the store on August 31, don't forget to tell at least 3 people near you to buy PARANORMALCY too.
Don't forget you are an Army of AWESOME, not an Army of average. Live up to your name!!
Awesome Kiersten - I'm excited for you. Also I would LOVE to pick out your signing outfit.
Kiersten,
I am so excited for you... and I'm wrangling all my reader friends to buy Paranormalcy (I've been quite forceful, really... and I have big red hair, which helps).
Enjoy the countdown, and remember all the moments, because though I believe you will have many published books that follow, no other one will feel quite like this one.
Best wishes and can't wait to read.
Jules
That's so awesome! Also, I recently found out a Dutch multimedia web shop is selling your novel, which means I get to read it after all. :)
Hurrah for you! I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT PRETTY ON THE SHELVES!
2 WEEKS????? Where has the time gone. I had better come visit you right away before you are too famous and in demand to pencil me in your calendar!!! I think I will just jump in the car tomorrow and head to your place!
I've been waiting for this book to come out for, like, ever now. So there's no way I'm waiting for it to ship. I'll be at B&N as soon as the doors open!!
Headed to B&N this afternoon where I will pre-order my copy.
They soooo better ship it before the 31st so I have it ON the 31st. You will hear my cries of pain and suffering if I have to wait longer for Mr. PostMan to bring me my package!
Okay, blogger just took away my really cute comment so I will attempt again.
Ahem.
Whoo!! I'm not sure if it's coming out in Aus on the 31st but I'll keep an eye out for it. Hopefully I'll be able to take a photo of it with a koala or something.
And I've already filled out several online request forms at my State library. I figure they'll assume that a) lots of different people want it or b) ONE really crazy person wants it hardcore.
Yay for you! You should be excited I mean its your book! I hope you celebrate well and send pictures...lol
So exciting! And I still think I would've liked it if you were reading the audiobook!! :)
Eeeks! That is so exciting for you. I can't wait to get my copy. Though, I don't know which is more of a panic, the book for you or the fact that I'm turning 26 on the 28th... lol
Ohmygosh, I CAN NOT wait for paranormalcy to come out.
If I see it at B&N I'll take pictures (and make sure they're on display and not hiding where no one can see it--becuz it definitely deserves to be seen!)
I've read lots of reviews on Paranormalcy and so far not one book blogger has anything but praise to say about it (a legendary type of thing).
I read the first chapter, and it was awesome, can't wait to read the rest.
~Ezzy
Enjoy your two weeks. You're already getting so much buzz, I know it'll be amazingly great. I can't wait to read it. And I'll be on vacation that week. Yea! I know what I'll be doing.
Pre-ordered!!!
Love the new design, btw.
Yay!!!
And I COULD go shopping for you. Yah, 4-11ers who aren't shaped like 12yos! Woooo! Hey, you can always HEM THE PANTS. What can you 6-foot chicks do? Add fabric? Didn't think so. :)
.... no offense meant to any tall women. Just, you know, I've been hit in the head with your backpacks one too many times.
Ooooh, I love what you've done with the place!
SOOO looking forward to this book!
Oh, and the new blog-look is AWESOME!
Eeeeeek! It's so soon! I can't wait until I finally get to read it.
LOVE the new header.
Oh my goodness, your blog is purple. I just pre-ordered your book. Yea! I wish Aug. 31st will come sooner.
Hey, if I comment on your blog, will you respond and refer to me as "Dude"? Because I think that would be super cool. And you are super cool. And I can't wait for 08/31/10. Paranormalcy will be required reading for my clients.
Phew.
For a moment I thought I'd gone out to the shops without any clothes on.
But it's only you panicking.
Love the new look site and the plethora of info.
But I have one gripe: no colour Kiersten.
Does it come out in ireland?
Love the new look for the blog but am happy to see you're the same hyperventilating self that you usually are (ok, so you might be a little more right now, but with good reason). And I can totally relate to the clothes shopping not being fun (turns out I'm actually shorter than you!) so my sympathies, except for, you know, that you have a book coming out! Squee!
Because I will implode if I wait for it to ship, I will buy the e-book.
Because I can not fathom not having a physical copy of the book I've been waiting for all year, I will buy the physical book.
Because I want everyoen to know about the awesomeness which is Paranormalcy, I will give it away on my blog.
And I'm running around screaming too, but I'm in a hotel, so my neighbours may call security in a minute :)
Love the new site layout!
I LOVE the new blog look, Kiersten!
PARANORMALCY isn't coming out at the same time in England, is it? I'm going to be in England when PARA hits stores, which is awesome since I've always wanted to go, but non-awesome in the fact that by the time I get to read it, everyone else will already have finished...
Also, I know the tours dates aren't within your control, but have you heard anything from HARPERTEEN about the possibility of East Coast dates?
I (heart) you, Claire.
Abby--It doesn't come out in the UK until January. Sorry! And as far as more tour dates, we don't have anything yet and probably won't. Sorry : (
