My house is a wreck. Dishes everywhere, clothes piled willy-nilly, and a kitchen table that looks like Toys-R-Us threw up on it. I also had to have one of our cars towed to the shop this morning, with all the accompanying scrambling and waking kids up and making phone calls.
You might be thinking, "Ah, yes, Monday. We feel you, Kiersten." But you're wrong! Because today is AWESOME. I love Mondays. You know why? Because everyone gets back to work on Monday, which means I frequently hear from the Best Editor Ever and the Most Wonderful Agent Alive on Mondays. And today I got to talk to both of them on the phone, which makes this Monday Officially Awesome.
And I'm going to spread the Officially Awesome love! I've been holding onto this for a while, but I think you've finally earned the chance to win it. I give you:

Sophie is one of those wonderful authors I feel very lucky to have connected with through our publisher, HarperTeen. She's lovely and charming and holy guacamole that woman can write kissing scenes like nobody's business. I was sold on this book before I ever read it because, a) LOOK AT THE COVER, and b) dragons! and c) LOOK AT THE COVER.
This cover comes in a close second, but I think Sophie's FIRELIGHT cover edges it out.
Yes, I really am so shallow that I will love a book based on the cover alone. Just look at those jeans! I mean, just look at the scales around her eyes! And the hair! It's perfect. But even beyond the cover Firelight is a great read, flipping the traditional supernatural-boy meets normal-girl on its head. It's got angst, and flirting, and impossible decisions, and incredibly sexy boys who simply must be kissed. Throw in an interesting and real family dynamic, and trust me when I say it'll make you wish you had scales.

Well, I'm going to say I'd be a kitsune--specifically an Inari fox--which is a shapeshifting fox of Japanese myth. :) They gain wisdom with age, and with more wisdom, they gain more tails--so a kitsune with nine tails is the most wise and powerful of all.
Kitsune are also incredibly loyal guardians (at least the Inari ones are; the others can be tricksters or even malicious). Plus the ability to shapeshift is awesome.
i like the flying, fire aspects so i'm going to jump on the phoenix and/or dragon bandwagon.

I'm not sure if this counts as a supernatural creature, but I would LOVE to be a mermaid. They're in alot of YA paranormals so I think it is a supernatural creature. :) I'd swim all day and fall in love with a boy in the underwater kingdom that I live in. Sort of like in My Little Mermaid. :) But he'd be a merman. I wouldn't fall for a human boy. LOL

If I could be a supernatural creature, I think I'd be a Siren, but instead of luring men indiscriminately to their deaths, I'd draw them to me, you know, for the greater good (wow - so many possibilities). And besides being gorgeous and being able to sing with an irresistable, sexy, haunting voice, I could totally fly and/or live underwater like a mermaid (depending on the mythology to which you subscribe - I'll take both). Rock on.

You know, I wanted to be a unicorn or some other horse-like beastie for a long time. (THE LAST UNICORN, HELLO). Also a mermaid.
So, I think it's only appropriate that I'd turn into a Hippocampus - half horse, half fish. Not to be confused with that cocktail-weenie-shaped portion of the brain.

Dragons are very cool. But I think I'm going to have to go with ghost here. I could keep my opposable thumbs, float, and avoid unwanted visitors. (You know, like Bilbo's ring but without all the fuss of eeeeevil.) Plus none of that bother of opening doors every time I want to leave the house. Ooooh, I love supernatural chracters but if I had to choose one then it would be a tough choice but I'd have to choose a creature of the Mer. (Read Ingo- its great!) Basically its a mermaid but not, get rid of all the frills and add raw power and life under the sea and you have the Mer.
Check out Helen Dunmores Ingo books, they brought reading alive for me!

I know that we are all so done with vampires, and even though I'm not much of a vampire fan myself, I have to say I would love being able to stay up all night. Think of all the quiet hours to write! Who needs all the other powers and supernatural strength when you would have an extra 8 hours a day!

Thanks for the book giveaway! I'm reading this book whether I win or not. :) The cover is beautiful and it sounds like a great story. Anyhow, I'm not sure if this counts as supernatural (I'm not sure what the definition entails), but if it counts I would love to be a leprechaun. I look nice in green, I'm always looking for four leaf clovers, and I love rainbows, pots o' gold, and rainbows (who doesn't?). Plus, I'm already 100% Irish, maybe I could actually get lucky and win one of these contests for once!

Dragons, yes. But I especially would want to be a Chinese dragon. They're awesome! Next best would be a griffin. (Actually, that's what my baby is; he's named for his great-grandfather. :) )
Well, as a swimmer, there is really no question about my answer: of course I'd be a mermaid! Not only would that allow me to use way more of the world than any land-bound creatures, but I also could explore the super strange fish and things people have never seen. Also, swimming fast is awesome.

I think if I could turn into any sort of Supernatural creature I'd either be a werewolf, because I absolutely love wolves and the lore surrounding them. Plus being able to run for such a length of time and being able to get anywhere quickly would be pretty cool. I think I've always sort of had the same personality as a wolf, so to be able to slip away in the middle of the night and just run and get away from it all would be really amazing. If not that, then some type of mermaid creature, because I've always sort of been obsessed with water and swimming, so I think that'd be really cool. Plus, my name is Ariel, so a whole mermaid obsession kind of comes with that name. But I think either would be cool. Both have it's ability to just get away from it all.
Does a ghost count? If it does then that's my pick. I mean come one, who doesn't want to be able to haunt anyone that ticks them off? "That guy just took the last non-diet soda from the vending machine! ...he's getting haunted."
Yeah, that's sort of a dream of mine.

Disney convinced me at a very young age (I think I was 8) that I NEEDED to transform into a mermaid.
Mermaids: gorgeous sirens of the sea. I wanted to write a book about them a while back, but the market got saturated before I could say go. Maybe next decade.

Well, I was going to say mermaid, but then I remembered that I don't actually like being in really deep water, which kinda kills the whole mermaid thing for me. So I'd have to say that I'd like to be an elf, because nearly every book I read that has elves in them makes them sound a) extremely talented at everything, b) kick-butt awesome, c) beautiful, and d) very wise. And who doesn't want to be all that? =)

hmm I would have to say I would want to transform into a mermaid-dragon-unicorn-pegasus hybrid. I would have the ability to breathe underwater and breathe fire, and i would have a mermaid tail with dragon scales. Then I would have a unicorn horn and pegasus wings. Majestic eh'?

Hmm, so many cool things to choose from. Let's see, I live in lower MI so I'm already considered a troll, so that is out. I do love dragons, but as a horse person I also have an affinity to unicorns and pegasus, but if I have to settle for one mythical creature, I think I'd want to be a flying pig. All the perks of being a pig, (unless you've spent time around pigs, you cant understand what incredible animals they really are) plus the benefit of wings, what more could a girl ask for.
i would want to be a selkie ala "seret of roane inish". yup, seal/person mix for me.

Loki. For one, he's part of the norse pantheon which suits me as I'm Scandinavian. He can shapeshift, so I can fly/swim/whatever today and still have those practical hands tomorrow :)
Also, he figures in American Gods (read it, if you haven't) which I just read.
To be fair, Loki is a god and might not really count as a "supernatural creature", but, well, feel free to disregard my entry if you will.
