Questions! Answers?

It's that time of month again! RENT! I mean, uh, Question and Answer Time! This is the post where you get to ask whatever you want in the comments section, and I'll answer the questions tomorrow.

It's a party. Trust me.

I'll start us out:

Didn't you get your editorial letter yesterday?

YES. Yes, yes, yes, and it's brilliant, and I'm so excited about it. And I only have four weeks. So if my blog posts this month are lacking in, shall we say, coherency, that's why. A girl can only spare so many brain cells.

How do you feel about the fact that your wonderful, talented, ridiculously hard working friend Natalie got herself a rock star of a literary agent (whose name starts with an N and ends with an Athan Bransford) to represent her fan-freaking-tastic book, Relax, I'm a Ninja, a book you adore?

SO. AWESOME. Words can't express. Go shriek with her in the comments of her blog, because really, folks, she is amazing. And I read it first!! Neener, neener, neener.

I'll now stop asking myself questions and open the comments up for yours. They don't have to be writing related, but they certainly can be. Silliness is encouraged. Then tomorrow: answers!

I know. The excitement. This is why you should skip my blog and go party on Natalie's!

Revision letter, how exciting! Good luck with the edits!

Bruschetta and crostini or caprese salad?

Outside the genre you write in, who is your favorite author and/or what is your favorite book? (They don't necessarily have to go together...)

I think the blogosphere might actually implode. It just cannot handle all this AWESOME.

It's kinda ridiculous how excited I am for your edits.

Questions, hmmm...

How would you describe your high school self?

How did you "meet" up with your online writing friends/critique group?

Do you know your story before you write it? Or do you just fly by the seat of your pants?

If Dr. Pepper isn't available, what is your next drink choice?

You may have already answered these in previous blogs, but I'm still pretty new. Thanks, and have fun editing!

How did you stay motivated when you got discouraged?

Congrats on getting your letter. It must be so exciting! Yay question time!

So I'm sort of obsessed with your editorial letter. I would love to know every detail of it complete with diagrams and charts but I recognize that that might not be appropriate, so I would settle for just some info on things like:

what kinds of notes do they give you? Like global (I think this book should be more about this theme) or detailed (On page 73, third sentence, etc.?)

I'd also love to know what about the letter makes you feel like your editor gets your book and that the changes she suggests will make your book better? Were any of her suggestions things you previously considered? Was anything she suggested a huge surprise?

Okay, that was a lot so I'll stop after just one last question:

If I read one of your tweets right, you're giving up Dr. Pepper? Why on earth would you do that??

I have no questions. It's ridiculous. I have so much to learn from you but ... my brain is all mushy.

Oh - I have a question!

If your amazing editor asks you to change something but you don't want to. Do you have to? Is that the deal? Or can you say - I feel strongly such-and-such should stay just as it is? Or is the actual publishing bit dependent on the editor's happiness?

OK There's four question marks there - but it's really just one question. (OH! Mushy brain ache!)

Uhm...uh...

How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?!

Haha sorry, I can't think of a serious question yet. It must be soo cool to be able to do all this jazz. Oh now I've got one:

How do you, er, work your way through (?) the editorial letter?

And if you were stranded on a deserted island with two books, what would they be?(and don't say one of them is your own, as awesome as it sounds)

So when Hollywood decides to make your book into a movie will you please invite me to your premier bash?

Yay for questions! I have two:

What is your vice?

And if you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

If I converted to Mormanism(is this a word?) and starting drinking Dr. Pepper again, could I join the MoMo's?

Has knowing your book is going to be published made you start doodling imagined covers in margins?

I think it is so groovy that you got your editorial letter! Have fun spiffing the book up.

It must be really flattering to know that someone employed in the book world (which impresses me) has read your work with such attentiveness and thought seriously about how best to show off your talent!

How do you fit everything in (writing, blogging, editing, wife-ing, mothering, other-ings)? :P

I have deadly, unattractive burn marks on my thighs from my own Laptop. Do you share in my disfigurement?

You seem to write your books in a matter of weeks. What is you rewrite method like? Do you rewrite the entire book? Do you rewrite then rewrite again? Does your final look more or less like your original or completely different?

1. Don't you think I should win Natalie's contest? (please refer to Sunday dinner metaphor)

2. How did you manage to get such ridiculously cool green eyes? So--jealous! :)

Given that you and Natalie are now agented authors (squee squee), do you envisage creating a display of sound and colour between you next time you meet to rival the "artifact being reassembled" cut scene from a computer RPG?

How many cups of sugar does it take to get to the moon?

Sorry, thats my defualt question for all new people I come across. Now for the serious question:

Is revising something that you can do no problem or is it very stressful? Or perhaps somewhere in between?
