Becca's debut novel, HUSH, HUSH, may or may not already be in a store near you, although its official release date is October 13th. And, being the lovely and charming person that she is, Becca agreed to answer some questions. Of course, having never interviewed another writer, I had to make up my own questions; I think you'll find I have a knack for cutting right to the heart of issues. And cue interview!
Let's say you were walking down the street and you ran into this guy:
Would your first thought be:A) Why does he have wings?
B) Nice pants.
C) How can I make out with him?
My husband is in the room with me, so this is going to be a bit tricky. My answer is going to determine where I'll be sleeping tonight. My first thought would be, “Nice pants,” because, hey. Those are some niiiiice pants.
Clearly I'm a bit of a fan of your cover. Did you die when you saw it? Because really, holy crap, that's an awesome cover.
I screamed when I saw it. I also screamed when I saw the model who played Patch, because he was dead on. Hair that gives midnight a run for its money with eyes to match. And a mouth that can't not be kissed. Suffice it to say, he was Patch, head to toe.
Is the sequel a direct sequel, or more of a linked book? More importantly, will it feature another ridiculously hot cover?
Direct sequel! Readers can expect to find out what really happened the night Nora's dad [SPOILER. Shame on you, Becca! I haven't read it yet!]. Oh, and there'll be more Patch. I kept trying to stick him in the corner, but he wasn't having any of that.
As for the cover, I've seen a couple possible covers. Hot? Oh, yes. Oh, yes!
The obligatory Official Writer Question: How long have you been writing? Was Hush, Hush your first book?
I started writing in 2003, when my husband signed me up for a writing class as a present for my 24th birthday. The present was kind of out in left field, since I was a health major in college. I love when seemingly small things end up changing your life! Anyway, back to the story...so, yeah. I started writing Hush, Hush in that class, and as soon as I had the first three chapters finished, I thought it might be a good time to look for an agent. Yes, I was clueless. Five years and two babies later, I found time to finish the book and to my amazement, it sold! It was the second book I attempted to write, and the first I completely finished. (And finished, and finished, and finished...Let's just say I went through a few drafts. Oh, fine! Five hundred drafts! Happy?)
And finally, Patch is being called the New Edward, which leads us to a Very Important Question: Team Edward or Team Jacob?
He's also being called the New Spike, which strikes me as more accurate. Patch is arrogant, self-assured, quirky and downright bad. Sometimes you just want to slap him! [OHMYGOSH SPIKE? Girl, have you come to the right blog. Please, please, can we fast-forward to the book release?]
As for teams, I've only read Twilight, so keep that in mind when I say...Team Edward! I'm an alpha male kind of girl.
Thanks to Becca for answering my questions and letting us ogle her cover for a while*. I can't wait to meet Patch. And I may have to buy Hot Stuff a pair of those pants...

The cover begs for the questions! So um...what's the book about and why doesn't Becca have a blog!!!
Becca's blog is now linked from her name, but you can also find it from my Authors and Writers section on the sidebar. I've also linked all of the pictures to the Amazon page where you'll find a teaser summary of the book.
There has been so much buzz over HUSH HUSH! Looks like an exciting read, and, Becca, you are a lovely person for entertaining Kiersten's particular brand of absurdity. Wait, no, not absurdity...I meant genius...yeah.
I just died when I clicked on your blog and saw that cover!
You had to mention he was like Spike. I'm sold.
Ok...I was sold when I saw the cover!!
WANT.
That boy.
Oh, yeah, and that book. But that boy. Does he come with the book? Please?
With a cover like that I certainly must get the book.
Thanks for a GREAT interview, Kiersten! That cover does have some serious hotness!
:)
Hahaha! This is awesome! Thanks, Kiersten for the GREAT interview! I just linked to it on my blog.
Becca
Can't wait to read this! Thanks for the interview, Kiersten. Becca's success is an inspiration. Just what I needed this week.
I want that book, darn it! If only because of that awesomely awesome cover! I can see myself now, the book in my hands, staring at the cover...for a week before I actually read the book.
I love that you managed to get it in this post FOUR times! Dude, you rock.
Mmm. Those are some NICE pants.
Great interview! Mmm...Spike. Better than Edward or Jacob, imo. Can't wait to read this one!
OMG! Insanely hot guy in tight pants and wings! I'm so buying the book!
I managed to grab an ARC for this one, and let me tell you... it's as great a read as it sounds :)
I'm already dying for the sequel!!!
Amazing cover! A good book cover always pulls me in for a closer look at the content. I'm looking forward to checking this one out!
Okay. Hold on. He looks like THAT... *sneaks peek at photo again*... and he's the "new Spike"? Can someone put some pillows down on the floor for me now? 'Cause I'm gonna swoon.
What an amazing cover!!
great interview - thanks!
Great interview. And the new Spike? Ahem, sign me up NOW.
Bwa ha ha, I love my lusty commenters. Also, sadly, Hot Stuff has informed me that he is not getting pants like that.
I might have to pout.
#PatchisthenewSpike. :D I can't believe Becca got to meet the model for the cover! Since I can't really see his face, I'm betting he was hot. xD
wow... um, yeah. *drools*
I was lucky enough to read an ARC of Hush, Hush (and interview Becca, and co-review it ... seriously, can't get enough), and I love the idea that Patch is the new Spike. Except sexy like Jordan Catalano. Does that even make sense? Either way, totally drool-worthy! My copy is pre-ordered!
I got the ARC of this and I read it within an hour! I could NOT put it down. I kept looking at the cover after each chapter. My daughter told me I needed to wipe the drool off of it! LOL
I hope Stephenie Meyer doesn't hate me for this BUT I think this will be the book that will knock Twilight off the top spot for young adult genre.
Good. Now I don't have to debate on whether or not to read it.
I'm so reading it.
Also, are the feathers turning red as the ascend, or is it just my freakishly overactive imagnation?
I must be out of the loop. Who's Spike?
Holy crap! That is an awesome cover!
Absolutely love the cover and it's on my list of books to buy.
Oh, Patch is SO Spike. With darker hair. Oh, how I love Spike.
Gee, Becca/Kiersten. Just when the cold sweats from my Buffy withdrawals subside, one of you evil peeps brings up Spike. Gah ... have a little compassion, will ya??
This review was so much fun - seriously. I was laughing out loud in my room @ 2 am. :)
He he, thanks, Sara!
OMGOMGOMG! I saw this interview awhile ago and it sold me on buying the book. Well I just got it today... and finished it today! Its AMAZING! I loved it from start to finish. I am SOOOOOOO a Team Patch girl. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book to come out!
I am sooooo beyond weeks late on this one (I'm going through my starred items on my Google Reader. Apparently I've starred, like, a hundred items in the last month), BUT:
(A) SPIKE!
and
(B) PANTS!
You know I'm buying this one. Thanks for the great interview.
