One of the perks to getting to know Steph was also discovering the incredibly talented Laini Taylor. Not only is she a published author, she is also an amazing artist--as is her husband. And, to top it all off, she has bubble-gum pink hair. It kind of doesn't get any cooler.
Or at least I thought so, until I found out she's also incredibly thoughtful. She sent one of her Laini's Ladies as a gift with Steph. It says, "Talent is something rare and beautiful and precious. It must not be allowed to go to waste." It's hanging on my wall where I can see it as I type. How sweet is that?
Now, you all already know how I feel about Carrie Harris. After all, I wrote poetry about her. However, she just got about a million coolness points added to her already overflowing chart (I have coolness charts for all of you--don't worry, you're all doing extremely well). About a month ago I won a contest on her blog and yesterday I received this in the mail:
Here's a closeup of the adorable HAND KNITTED ninja:

How funny is this? I almost put a Laini's Lady in the prize pack. :)
I also wanted to get you a signed Richard Simmons photo, but for some reason, I couldn't find any.
That little ninja is ADORABLE! I love getting story-related presents!
So much fun! Oh my goodness, that doll is just too cute for a ninja.
Oh, I not sure what I'm most jealous of. Probably the ninja duckie. Wow...really must win one of Carrie's contests. I'm going to double my efforts next time.
And Laini is waaaay too cool for words. I'm not intimidated at all...
Nice pose on the "big" prize. Is he available for runway shows?
Okay, it's now on my life goals list. :D
That ninja is so CUTE! I want one! Really bad. Hm. I wonder if I can find a pattern for one, or something.
Awesome that you won all that amazing stuff! Because who doesn't love tiki heads, zombies, and ninjas?
I got a crochet ninja too! Isn't is awesome?
I guess I should keep it far, far away from my sock drawer...
So, I'm seeing a bit of Middle East in Hot Stuff. Does he have any Arab in him? Pakistani? Indian?
I gotta tell you, it's pretty hot.
Awesome MINI NINJA
Happy Easter, Kiersten. Hope it is a wonderful day for you and yours.
Oooh, presents in the mail. How fun. But the best present I agree is the husband present.
Thay Hot Struff beard thing kind of works.
As for the pose — get him fixed up with a guitar for the Punktuations. Or starring in his own maverick cop TV show. Or an astronaut costume, with the helmet tucked under his arm...
Hand-knitted ninja!! Awesome! That Carrie Harris, she sure is creative :-) Can't wait to read her books (and yours)!
And I love that you thank your mother-in-law. I definitely feel deep gratitude to mine as well, for doing such a great job!
The quote on the lady, by the way, is from Cricket in Times Square, which I loved as a 10-year-old (8? 9? Don't remember) but haven't read since.)
Cheers!
The knitted ninja is AWESOME! I love it. What neat gifts you get!
