Whee!

I have characters! And tense! And POV! And setting! And a voice that has surprised me. Not to mention an opening chapter that does NOT have anyone being kidnapped, shot at, or attacked.

This is a first. Should be interesting.

In the meantime, don't forget to scroll down. I decided not to close the questions early and will answer them in two or three posts over the next couple of days instead! I'll leave it open until tomorrow morning.

An opening chapter void of kidnapping, shooting, or attacks? What does that even look like?

This is exciting, and it was still intriguing and everything without a single mishap.

Hey, congrats! Keep going strong! No kidnappings. Aw, shucks!

Wow! How do you do that and keep it exciting? My first chapter has a bit of that.

How fun! I've decided that first chapters are my favorite. I've written like six openings to books, but am only working on actually finishing two!

I hope you're going to post an excerpt soon!

WIth all those things, you should write a book.

I definitely love openings. And Janey, you're right! I think I will!

I love new book highs. Good luck with yours.

Hurray for new starters!

I stumbled on something yesterday with a young male protag voice - wrote a thousand words and then put it to the side. I have other things I need to get finished first.

My question: When you are working on a project, do you write down notes of other ideas that come to you or make yourself wait until your current work is done before you get to play with new things. Or do the new ideas patiently wait in line for their turn? (In which case, I might have to hate you)

Also, I wanted to say - my comment on your short-people-post sounded like I was dismissing your experience. I didn't mean it like that and especially hope that you know I wasn't trying to imply that you weren't getting ignored (or that you were doing something specific to "cause" it)! I was intrigued as my experience has not been quite the same and coming up with reasons as to why that might be but somehow it all came out as if I were stating facts. Sorry about that.

Oh, Sylvia, ha! I wasn't offended at all. I like hearing about other short people ; )

If I forget to add your question to my thing tomorrow, I'll just say, when I'm writing something I'm totally obsessive and don't think of other stories. If something else does start creeping in, it's because whatever I'm working on isn't working.
